Celebrating Construction was co-hosted on 24th April 2009, by CIOB West Midlands Branch, Birmingham City Council's Building Consultancy Services and the West Midlands Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence (WMCCE).
Celebrating Construction is a showcase awards ceremony that provides recognition of the professionalism, excellence and innovation that lies at the heart of the West Midlands' construction community. The awards aim to represent the broadest possible spectrum of achievements.
The event incorporated Building Consultancy's eleventh annual Built in Quality and Quality in Demolition Awards, presented by The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Chauhdry Abdul Rashid JP. The awards promote and reward excellent work in both construction and demolition, and winners are chosen from projects nominated by Building Consultancy's building control surveyors.
Winners in the Apartments category, were Hemisphere Apartments, in Edgbaston. A joint development with Redrow and Calthorpe Estates, Ridge assisted Redrow’s in-house PM team, and with good project collaboration, successfully satisfied this exacting client.
The judges commented: "these prestigious apartments compliment their setting with a selection of textured exterior panels and well landscaped communal areas, creating a stunning development. The steel and concrete framed apartments were produced without the use of scaffolding at a n average of seven per week. The inner courtyard area includes an innovative use of lighting to create a tranquil and safe environment for residents."
