Herefordshire College of Technology
Ridge was appointed by Herefordshire College of Technology to carry out the project management of the redevelopment of the College’s main campus in the centre of Hereford. The project provides 18,000m² of world-class teaching facilities. Curriculum areas covered by the new buildings include construction trades, sound engineering, catering, IT and humanities.
The site is also occupied by a Sixth Form College and a College of Art. Works on the campus have maintained curriculum continuity at all three College’s throughout the Works by detailed project management of the building services design and sequencing imposed on the contractor.
Ridge’s team have been involved in:-
- Managing the development of the design from RIBA Stage C to RIBA Stage D plus
- Managing the users consultations during the design of staff areas, teaching spaces as well as facilities such as learning support and LRC space
- Overseeing the Single Stage Design and Build process with tenderers selected by an OJEC process
- Co-ordination of the professional teams input into the submission of an Application in Detail for Capital Support from the Learning and Skills Council
- Co-ordination of funding stakeholder meetings including stakeholders from the Learning and Skills Council, Advantage West Midlands and the Government Office of the South West
- Chairing regular monitoring and reporting meetings with stakeholders from the three Colleges on the campus and the LSC
- Chairing site meetings as Contract Administrator with attendees from the Design and Build Contractor, the three colleges and the Client’s professional team
- Managing the approval of the Contractor’s detailed design proposals and ensuring client changes are managed by a robust change control process
- Administrating the Design and Build Contract in the role of Employer’s Agent
