Ambassadors Residence, Moscow

Ridge has been successful in securing the Building Surveying and full consultancy services for the refurbishment of the Ambassador's Residence, Moscow, under the Building Surveying Framework Agreement with the FCO. The Residence, formerly the British Embassy building is situated on the prominent Sofiyskaya Embankment of the Moskva River right opposite the Kremlin in Moscow.

The building was constructed towards the end of the 19th Century initially as a family residence but transferred to the British Government in 1927. The building was recently vacated when the new British Embassy building was completed in 2002 and returned to a family residence for the Ambassador to Moscow.

The building is highly decorated both externally and internally with ornate plaster stucco, gilding and wood panelling in typical Russian style of that period. This project involves the complete refurbishment of the existing building including full replacement of the existing M&E services. Ridge has been commissioned to design and supervise the conservation and refurbishment works proposed for the building.
