Initially Ridge was appointed under a 3-year framework agreement, and as a consequence of establishing a good working relationship we continue on projects for the client, on an ad hoc basis beyond the period of the first agreement.
Projects have included:
- Parkfield School, Taunton: An extension to an existing Primary School, providing four new classrooms, group rooms, cloakrooms and toilets. Naturally ventilated and single-storey, the building is being built on a restricted site prone to flooding. Close liaison with the Environment Agency to ensure all preventive measures are designed into the Brief.
- Ashcott Primary School, near Bridgewater: Extension to an existing Primary School providing four new classrooms and an IT room. Two photovoltaic panels were installed along with sun pipes and wind catches.
- Meare Primary School, Glastonbury: Ridge delivered expert advice following the main contractor’s insolvency. Extension works were suspended with some 6 weeks of the programme remaining. Ridge evaluated all works up to the point of suspension, advising the Client on payments and procurement of the works to complete.
- Yeovil Preston Primary School:A purpose-built extension, accommodating six new classrooms and associated facilities. The project was funded from two sources within the Local Authority - contract works and variations required close scrutiny, ensuring all costs were fully accountable to the Authority’s Auditor.
- Pupil Referral Unit and Youth Offenders Team, Bridgewater: A new-build scheme, located in the town centre, the 680m² single-storey day school is designed in two parts, one being classrooms in which to teach pupil referrals, the other a mixture of offices, classrooms and an engineering workshop for the Youth Offenders Team.
- The Maples, Castle Carey: Extension to single-storey care home, for adults with learning disabilities. The extension provided two new bedrooms with en-suite facilities.
- Hamp Junior School, Bridgewater: An extension providing four single-storey classrooms and a staff room. Sun pipes and wind catchers were also installed.
