Institute of Reproductive Sciences, OxfordThe Oxford Fertility Unit and The University of Oxford Nuffield Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, together with Post Genetics UK Ltd have formed the Institute of Reproductive Sciences (IRS), which aims to lead the field for research, technique and procedure in In-vitro fertilisation (IVF), Post Genetic Diagnosis and a new University MSc course in Clinical Embryology Ridge was briefed to provide feasibility advice in finding a suitable location and to determine the suitability of the building for its new uses which included Clean rooms, Clinical Procedure rooms, Teaching Labs and full IVF Consultation and Treatment facilities together with full back of house office facilities. Once a suitable building had been identified, we were required to obtain a detailed design brief from all stakeholders and to prepare the comprehensive Employer’s Requirements documents for the building refurbishment. A fundamental requirement was that all IVF elements within the building met with the exacting standards of the Health Care Commission and HFEA Regulations. The Contractor for the refurbishment finished on time, giving two months to complete the Stage C occupiers fit-out of the reception and office furniture, laboratory and IVF equipment, ICT installations, access control, and CCTV. Ridge worked with the IRS to bring the building to a fully-compliant and HCC licensed standard prior to full operational occupation, bringing the project in on time and within budget. |
