Healthcare Centre,
Stratford upon Avon
The concept and drivers behind the project was to provide the Stratford area with a new Primary Healthcare facility to support the existing town hospital. The new centre comprises general practitioner surgeries, community services, a 28-bed EMI hospital (elderly mentally infirm), a 20-outpatient hospital, a dental surgery, plastic surgeon, a renal unit (supporting 12 dialysis stations), a pharmacy, offices and a café. The client, Stratford Healthcare Ltd, was a joint venture between Chestnut Walk Surgery (the local GP practice) and Montpelier Estates.
The buildings, which are concrete framed, with concrete plank floors have high performance composite panel roofs, with a combination of terracotta rain screen cladding and rendered elevations, designed on a Mediterranean theme. The internal courtyards are landscaped to provide restful seating areas, and have been designed to be secure for patients whilst incorporating emergency evacuation routes.
Ridge, who has worked with the client Montpelier Estates on previous schemes, was invited to provide Client’s Agent and Development Monitoring services, to protect our Client’s interests throughout the course of the Development.
Ridge undertook to ensure that the Design Team and Management Contractor delivered the project on time and within budget and to the highest quality; this involved:
- Advice in relation to the construction related aspects of the Project.
- Monitor the performance of the Developer in carrying out its obligations.
- Perform the function of the Client’s surveyor.
- Issue approvals, decisions and certificates on behalf of the Client.
The buildings were delivered as a turnkey project, fully fitted, with state-of-the art clinical and recreational facilities on time and within budget. |
