Weston Area Health Trust
Our relationship with the Trust began in 2004, when the they involved Ridge in its plans to alter the Maternity Department at the Weston General Hospital. This project did not proceed however, it did lead to Ridge winning subsequent projects including:
- The WISH Centre (Weston Integrated Sexual Health Clinic). Previously, the service had been situated in cramped conditions in a modular building on the hospital site. The scheme required the rationalisation of existing hospital space and the transfer of offices away from the main building, thus focussing all clinical areas and activities within the main hospital building.
- The Endoscopy Unit. The adjacent Maternity Unit was under-utilised and therefore scaled down - the space this freed-up was used to increase to the footprint of the Endoscopy Unit. Ridge was able to create a second theatre with two scope washers as well as ancillary areas all contained within one unit. The Endoscopy Unit is in the centre of the hospital, on the second floor. The threat of builder traffic and disruption through the hospital (in particular to the maternity unit) posed a challenge which we overcame by punching a temporary opening through an external wall at 2nd floor height.
- The Pathology Department. Ridge was instructed, as part of a Feasibility Study, to alter the Pathology Department. A recent report criticised various procedures and a reshuffle iwas required to remediate this.
- The Waterside Unit. The conversion and upgrade of a private ward within the NHS hospital. The ward has 11 en-suite bed rooms and 3 consulting rooms. The refurbishment was achieved in a short time frame to minimise loss of income.
- Paediatrics Assessment Unit. The conversion of an existing office environment to a paediatric assessment facility - a day-case unit comprising 6 examination rooms, treatment area, 4-cot ward, 6-bed recovery/isolation ward, play space and kitchen.
