Sectors and Projects

Eynsham Hall, Oxfordshire

Eynsham Hall is a Grade II listed manor house, which was built in the 17th Century. The Hall became a training and conference centre in 1981 and now, set in 30 acres, the Hall is a 3-star 114-bed hotel and conference facility.

The client wishes to upgrade to a 4-star+’boutique’-style hotel and Ridge has been appointed as part of the team to achieve this.

This project consists of the alteration and refurbishment of the hotel accommodation within the original 17th Century building and the demolition of a 1980’s 29-bed accommodation block and construction of a new luxury 90-bedroom wing, to be called ‘The Lodge’.

The scheme will also involve the creation of a new reception area and new conference facilities in a two-storey extension over the Kitchens. It will also provide a glazed link to the new Lodge building.

The proposals provide for refurbishment of the kitchens and back-of-house areas, the extension of the existing car parking and the provision of new landscaped gardens.

In meeting the Client’s brief, the challenges for the Design team were centered on the project phasing. Business continuity was a key requirement. Carrying out the works outside the businesses peak period were essential. The solution was to divide the scheme into a series of works programmes to enable the major works to be phased to minimize the disruption.

Ridge is involved with organizing the necessary boiler replacements, and has surveyed the existing buildings and is preparing a co-ordinated programme of roof repairs.

Work on the Lodge building replacement is due to commence first, with the reception and conference suites following on.
