Faroe and Maldive Regeneration, BasingstokeThis project required the demolition of ten reinforced concrete tower blocks comprising 120 flats to enable large scale regeneration of this disadvantaged area of Basingstoke. The design and construction of 240 new build houses and apartments, to the latest design and quality requirements, with all units being Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 but with PV panels to the main block of flats. There are multiple Section 278, 38 and 104 works covering highways and drainage infrastructure which are very challenging. The brief was to create a new sustainable community with enhanced internal and external environment within agreed time, cost and quality parameters stated within the Clients brief. Key success criteria headings for this project have been agreed as: Health & Safety; Time; Cost; Quality; User Satisfaction. Two residents’ workshop sessions have been held and stakeholders identified and involved with key design decision making. Residents’ feedback has been incorporated into design where possible and practical. The works have been carried out in phases over a 6 year period. Phase two was awarded an NHBC quality award in September 2011. |
