Golden Orient Restaurant, StaffordThe Client already owned a number of restaurants in the Staffordshire area. This newly acquired development is located in an industrial area adjacent to a motorway junction. Ridge was brought on board by the architect to cost manage the fit-out, however this service was extended as the project progressed. The 589m² 2-storey new build is brick and steel; with the kitchen and customer facilities on the first floor, the ground floor accommodates up to 200 covers. This was a new and exciting project for the Client - the internal design of the building continually changed as ideas evolved. Ridge controlled the potential for escalating costs by continual value engineering and by challenging many of the design decisions; as a consequence, Ridge also became involved in programme management. The Golden Orient is an extremely successful enterprise and has now become a template for the Client, whose plan it is to roll-out a chain of similar venues. |
