Grosvenor Casino, Reading

The Client wished to expand its existing gaming business which was operating on the first floor of this central Reading location. The scheme converted ground floor retail units allowing a new concept to the layout and operation of the gaming floor.

The Client’s financial control process required following specific procedures.

The location of the building - a busy town centre and surrounded by major roads on all sides (two of these being one-way), presented predictable issues of difficult access and limited storage.

Furthermore working within the existing structure of the building, whilst continually in use, required phased relocation to allow Works to progress without causing any interruption to the gaming activities trading on the first floor.

Following clearance and demolition of partition walls, the 570m² ground floor area was converted and fitted-out with new concept electronic gaming equipment (eg IT, CCTV, security), thus Ridge was required to fully understand the procurement of the required specialist works packages.

The interior was enhanced with clever use of LED feature lighting, stainless steel skirting and wall panelling whilst the 50-stong staff benefitted from new changing facilities and a canteen. The 15-year old exterior façade was re-vamped with new canopies and signage, the windows re-etched and the frames re-sprayed with powder coating.

Giving the “extra mile”, Ridge offered Value Engineering Services to reduce the scope of works to achieve budgetary objective.
