Sports Centre
The Sports Centre occupies a principal position at the main entrance to the Whiteknights campus. The existing successful gymnasium was struggling to cope with ever-rising demand and changing facilities were becoming worn, outdated and overstretched.
The scheme involved the demolition of two under utilised and aging squash courts, a new gym extension and refurbishment of the existing gym to provide a modern new facility more than double its former size, and provision of new and refurbished changing facilities.
The new extension is of steel framed and metal clad construction. Internally it has high quality and bright finishes, feature lighting and comfort cooling. In tandem with completion of the construction works, the new facility was fitted with new state-of-the-art equipment. The finished gymnasium has proved incredibly popular with users resulting in a huge upturn in usage.
