Doncasters Group Ltd, DroitwichThe Client is a leading international engineering group that manufactures precision components and assemblies for the aerospace, petrochemical, industrial turbine, automotive, construction and transportation markets. Following a fire and extensive smoke damage, the factory had to be fully refurbished. Additionally, the Client decided to take the opportunity to upgrade the facility and to introduce new business processes into the production facility over and above the reinstatement; these modifications were required to be incorporated into the main contract, running parallel with the reinstatement. The Ridge team included design managers and cost managers so we were able to procure and appoint the Contractor to commence works on site without delay. We procured a traditional contract, but it was a 2-stage tender with the contractor appointed on a guaranteed maximum price. Ridge was required to work alongside the insurer’s team of technical advisors to deal with the claim for reinstatement and also the detailed design and construction of additional Client request items which included the reconfiguration of the factory floor and construction of a new 2-storey mezzanine floor. Ridge was able to provide a multi-discipline team for the project and the Client consequently benefitted from our integrated approach because our designers were able to meet the accelerated construction programme so that work commenced on site whilst detailed designs for subsequent work packages were still being carried out. The consequence was a very concentrated design and construction period. |
