Merck ChemicalsConstruction of a new 3000m² facility on the new Chilworth Science Park in Southampton. This project was undertaken in consultation with the University of Southampton which included physics and chemistry laboratories on the upper floor and offices on the ground floor for research into liquid crystals. Ridge lead the process of selecting an appropriate design team through a mini design competition on behalf of Merck. Following the selection of the design team we also lead the feasibility study which sought to meet all of the aspirations of the Merck Chemicals Board. A structured Value Engineering Workshop was undertaken, resulting in the development of a scheme within the desired budget without unduly compromising functionality or quality. Costs were rigorously controlled throughout which resulted in the successfully completed project being delivered to budget.
