New Laboratory, North WalesRidge was appointed as Employer’s Agent for a new pharmaceutical facility at the Client’s well-established site in North Wales. The project comprised the construction of a new-build laboratory for both Analytical and Microbiological testing of pharmaceutical products. The laboratory is used for quality control and testing which required Class C rooms (ISO 7) meeting stringent sterility standards. The initial phase of the building was over three floors, covering 2500ft², with a manufacturing unit to be added if product trials proved successful. The new building meets all GMP and FDA requirements. The project involved all the services that one would normally expect to find on a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The services were designed with flexibility in mind to enable a “fallow floor” area to be developed at a time in the future. Ridge provided expertise on a multi-discipline basis, including a design checking role of the Contractors’ proposals. The project was finished ahead of programme and within budget. As a consequence of Ridge’s performance on this project, Ridge was also appointed to carry out the design and monitoring of a packaging line in other existing buildings on the site. Following this, the Client appointed Ridge to carry out a similar role for a new pharmaceutical facility in Dublin. |
