Banbury Retail Park

Phase One of the Banbury Retail Park Development was completed on time and under budget. The tenant 'Homebase' took possession in time to fit out and open ready for Christmas. The Project marked a new branch in our very successful working relations with our client, Oakhill Group Limited. We have worked on retail warehouse schemes with them before, but this scheme was slightly different due to the early involvement of the tenant and our duel role of cost management for both clients.

The new building is situated on the site of an old motor dealership and our initial commission of quantity surveying and planning supervision was for the demolition and ground remediation works prior to the new construction. The site had known oil tank leakage and a specialist environmental consultant engineer was employed to specify the work necessary to clear up the site. This involved the use of 'Bio-remediation' techniques and the monitoring of the ground water contaminates.

The building, a portal steel framed warehouse has polished block cavity wall upto 3.50m with composite metal cladding above. The roof is a standing seam aluminium system with a glazed entrance atrium on the front elevation. In additional to our main commission we were also instructed to act on the Party Wall issues with the adjoining land owners.
