Ridge

History

Ridge is a multi-disciplinary firm of construction and property consultants. We aim to understand our client needs and provide satisfaction with a first class response and technical service.

Our network of larger offices ensures that our clients have a flexible, dedicated resource able to deliver solutions to a wide variety of building types and problems.

The practice was established in Oxford by Harold John Ridge, a local Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1946, at a time of considerable change in the world as the war ended and life returned to normal. Whilst the practice has changed dramatically over the years, continuing to work for a diverse mixture of public and private sector clients has been a significant and progressive feature. The Practice grew steadily and by the mid 1970s had become one of the principal Quantity Surveying Practices in the Thames Valley.

In the mid 1970s Ridge diversified its range of services, leading to the point where clients could obtain a  "one-stop" service for the procurement and/or maintenance management of their buildings. Consequently specialist sections were progressively established in the Practice covering building surveying, project management, mechanical and electrical quantity surveying, architecture, arbitration, legal support services and mechanical & electrical building services design.

The growth of the Practice has continued and part of this expansion included the establishment of a Reading office in 1977; a Bristol office in 1988; a London office in 1998; a Leicester office in 2005; in 2006 offices in Birmingham and Worcester, and most recently in 2008, offices in Southampton, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Milton Keynes. Overseas work has also developed with major commissions and projects all around the world.

Ridge positions itself as a modern, broad-based, forward thinking multi-disciplinary practice. We have developed the services that we offer in order to assist our clients in property and construction matters, from early business case formulation and feasibility studies through design and management of construction works, to the management of buildings whilst in use.

We continuously monitor the services we provide in order to maintain our client focused approach.
