Ridge Traffic & Transport appointed to work with Somerset County Council

The Transport and Development Planning team from Ridge has been successful, following  presentations to a selection panel drawn from local authorities, in being selected as one of three consultancies to a multi-lot supplier Framework Agreement for an integrated programme of Travel Demand Management through Somerset County Council.

The Ridge team have been appointed to Lot 3 Education and Lot 4 Tourism. Lot 3 relates to working with education facilities such as colleges, schools and other higher education facilities whilst Lot 4 involves working with tourist organisations, hospitality groups, hotels and leisure attractions seeking to develop and implement travel demand management solutions. The purpose of the programme is to; deal with road safety risks, particularly for non- motorised users; maximise the opportunities for managing travel to achieve a modal shift to walking and cycling: and to achieve reliability and consistency of journey times particularly through the construction of Hinkley Point. It is also anticipated that the framework will be extended beyond this initial programme to facilitate other travel demand management requirements of the South West Highways Alliance.
