Ridge was appointed in January 1998 to act as Project Managers for the relocation of the DETR from Tollgate House prior to the expiry of their lease on the 21 June 2001.
The key objectives of the project were:
To secure appropriate new accommodation within the postal zone BS1.
To deliver office facilities which will raise the standard of DETR accommodation commensurate with that of the private sector and take full advantage of the co-location benefits.
To deliver the project within the lease expiry period and within the budget as defined in the business plan, and to agreed levels of quality.

Ridge was appointed to work closely with the Project Sponsors (Planning Inspectorate) and report directly to the Project Board comprising senior representatives for the Co-location Partners, DETR finance, Audit and ITSD.
The project was completed on programme, within budget and has satisfied the key objectives and successfully overcome the initial staff concerns regarding an open plan working environment and new working methods. The completed project has fulfilled the Client's expectations and provided a modern office facility of high quality which is energy efficient and has achieved an 'Excellent' BREEAM rating.
