Education

East Surrey College, Redhill
East Surrey College is a further education college and caters for about 8,000 full and part-time students. The College, wishing to develop "world-class" environmentally-friendly buildings as part of a multi-million pound revamp, has submitted plans to demolish existing buildings and construct a new campus at its Gatton Point North site.
The project is a replacement of the existing facility with the exception of one building. The College is currently split into two sites; with eventual sale of the south site to fund the construction along with LSC funding. It is about 16,000m² of new education buildings with a total project cost of £60million.
There will be a high degree of environmental and sustainable features, with a 2-year build programme due to an element of phasing through retaining some existing buildings which are of a specialist nature (motor transport and creative arts & design). The key aspect of the whole project is that the replacement of the College does not have any adverse affect on the ongoing day-to-day activities of the College.
