Walford and North Shropshire College, Oswestry
The college underwent a major site rationalisation programme of its academic and administration facilities, to relocate one of the college sites on to the main campus. There was a main new build phase, for the construction of a three storey new LRC, Refectory and Teaching and Administration Block. The project also required the creation of an atrium main entrance link and new third storey to the existing two storey College building, including re-cladding and refurbishing the existing block so that the facility appears as one new College. The project was carried out with the College operating as normal for 85% of the Building Contract and the existing services located in a basement below the new link block was able to function throughout the construction phase.
Careful phasing, the choice of a light weight cladding system and enclosure meant the project could be constructed within the 14 month time frame with minimal disruption to the staff and students.
