Ridge

Education

Radley College, Abingdon

Ridge has a long relationship with this Oxfordshire boys school, assisting with several new-build and refurbishment projects including:

The rebuilding of an existing Victorian Kitchen, removing all ground floor supporting walls, heavy temporary work and steel framing and the installation of a new kitchen and servery. A library and new student room were built on a new first floor.

Construction of a new Sports Pavilion. The round design gives uninterrupted views of Radley's extensive sports playing fields. The ground floor accommodates eight changing rooms whilst the first floor offers social space for away teams and guests.

Two new Boarding Houses comprising 120 bedrooms as well as staff accommodation and associated social space; both are linked to two existing buildings. Several environmental aspects were incorporated into the scheme - eg insulation properties exceeding requirements, rainwater harvesting, solar water heating and connections to the heating system to allow installation of a ground source heat pump at a later date.

A new 350-seat theatre equipped with fully integrated backstage technical facilities;, with a covered link connecting the existing studio theatre and the modern languages building.

New Real Tennis Court which will be in a new building attached to an existing sports centre which, in turn, will be considerably upgraded to provide cohesive access to Radley's indoor sports facilities.
