North Bristol NHS Trust Framework
Ridge has a long standing relationship with North Bristol NHS Trust and has been appointed to the Framework on the list of Approved of Consultants. The Trust puts great emphasis on budgetary control and therefore there needs to be accurate cost reporting, as well as good communication with the Trust on all aspects of the budget, even beyond construction costs.
Recent project experience ranges from car park extensions through temporary offices to theatres and refurbishment and extensions of major hospitals, including:
- Southmead Hospital, Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit: Refurbishment of existing ward, consulting rooms and bereavement/parents rooms together with a new first floor of Consultants and Administration offices sited on an existing, adjacent, single storey building. Programme duration – 24 weeks.
- Southmead Hospital Car Park: Ridge was originally asked to comment upon proposals for a number of extensions and upgrades to the existing car parking provision. Following the suggested negotiation with a local contractor, where Ridge led the programming and price agreement, Works were phased to ensure that the overall number of spaces on the site was not reduced at any time. Further Works were accommodated within the Contract to extend the overall number of car parking spaces to 335.
- Frenchay and Southmead Hospitals, Pathology Departments: At Southmead, Pathology will be relocated whilst a new Department is built. At Frenchay, the existing Pathology Dept will receive a complete refurbishment whilst occupied and operational.
- Frenchay & Southmead Hospitals, Mortuary Viewing Rooms: New Viewing Rooms to the Mortuaries at both sites. The Mortuaries are in subsidiary buildings at both Hospitals and the scheme will provide landscaping to the adjacent spaces forming gardens.
- Frenchay Hospital, Intensive Care Unit: Phased refurbishment of existing ward areas together with a new build extension comprising 4 separate bed spaces, divided by full height acoustic glazed partitions. A 22-week programme, negotiated contract under IFC. Negotiation was the preferred procurement route and enabled an early start on site with a view to completing the contract prior to the 2008/09 financial year close.
- Frenchay Hospital, Wheelchair Services: Refurbishment of two existing buildings and small extension, providing workshops, storage and consulting rooms.
- Frenchay Hospital, Theatres 7 & 8: Replacement theatre plant and associated works. The theatres were temporarily relocated to enable the hospital to continue operate around the clock.
