Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
Saint Mary's Hospital London, New Clinical Diagnostic Unit
The new unit will ensure that patients arriving at the Queen Mother Building receive medical attention within the time- frame set by the NHS. The new facility is being created within the existing hospital and comprising 12 new beds, nurses station, treatment rooms and patient ablutions. The project programme is being fast tracked to ensure the speedy delivery of the new facility.
QEQM Building
The QEQM Building required a major electrical upgrade however it was required to remain fully operational during the works, with supply maintained at all times to all operating theatres, intensive care facilities, accident & emergency and high-dependency beds.
Jefferiss Wing
Ridge was procured to solve a problem with an inadequate electrical supply to Jefferiss Wing, which consists of seven specialist laboratories and adjacent offices on the second floor. Due to expansion of existing services being provided, the supply was overloading the main distribution boards.
Due to the disruption to the laboratories and the sample testing that was being carried out, Ridge was required to design and procure the works in an extremely tight timescale.
The Department and its laboratories were required to be maintained in operation at all time. The re-wiring Works had to be carried out predominantly out of hours and in eight phases. This involved compartmentalisation of each phase with each room having its own distribution boards, and a new 3-phase essential power supply was incorporated into the design.
