LMS Station, Quainton

A Grade II* listed Victorian rail station has been dismantled from a site in central Oxford and reconstructed as a visitor centre at Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in Quainton. The cast and wrought iron, glazing, brick and timber structure was designed by the same engineer who created Crystal Palace in 1851.

The original structure was assessed and repaired, with some recasting required. The train shed at the rear has been extended using timber panels, steel trusses and columns, to provide space for the facilities required at the visitor centre. The funding for the project was from the University of Oxford who needed to relocate the building to allow for the new Said Business School, the project was also part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
