During 2014 Ridge was instructed by the Forestry Commission to provide professional services to construct their new WC Block at Salcey Forest, near Northampton. The scope included demolition of the existing facilities and design of a new larger WC block complete with accessible WC’s, Information Point and first floor office accommodation.
The design challenges included creating an attractive, sustainable yet functional and durable finish to meet public demand especially during peak holiday periods. A number of energy saving elements were incorporated into the design including waterless urinals. However limited client funds resulted in omitting some items including the rain water harvesting system.
The Client intends to refurbish the first floor offices at a later date generating valuable rental income. The design allows for future alterations and adaptations to minimise disruption, reduce costs and duration of works. The project was delivered to the client for approximately £250,000.
