Chapel Gate is a major regeneration project that will deliver private and affordable housing and community facilities including over 600 residential units on a 26-acre brownfield site in central Basingstoke.

Management of Road Safety Audit
The Transport Assessment involved a detailed analysis of the base case and the impact of the development on road safety and local road network. This involved the formulation of possible mitigation options, which included the provision of a shared and segregated pedestrian and cycle way, pedestrian crossings and improvement to junction layouts.
The Travel Plan promotes sustainable travel to and from the site with the objective of reducing single occupancy car trips.
Additionally, Ridge was appointed to be the Travel Plan Co-ordinator for the site. This role includes the marketing and promotion of the Travel Plan to residents, implementation of all measures, organisation and management of £100 travel incentive offered to each household, the production of quarterly residents’ travel newsletter and the monitoring of the Travel Plan.
Baseline resident travel surveys, and subsequent travel surveys, will be undertaken to measure the progress of modal shift against the stated targets. The role is ongoing for ten years.
