Royal Berkshire Hungerford Community Centre
First of its Kind Community Tri-Service Station Opens in Royal Berkshire

Following a major investment by Royal Berkshire Fire Authority (RBFA), blue light partners have begun operating under one roof for the first time in Royal Berkshire after the opening of Hungerford Community Fire Station.

Ridge was involved in the refurbishment which has delivered upgraded facilities for fire-fighters, as well as new shared facilities for partners Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Services, together with a fully equipped community room for local people to book meeting spaces.

This project has delivered several other key features within the station. This includes an enlarged appliance bay to accommodate a modern fire appliance, a gym to support fire-fighters in maintaining their fitness, an upgraded drill tower and a new training tower facility that slows for ladder transfer practice.

It is hoped that the opening of Hungerford Community Fire Station can provide a blueprint for future collaborative projects in the Thames Valley to deliver a more effective service to communities. Not only is it a modern, fit for purpose station for three emergency services, it is a fire station firmly in the heart of the community it serves.
