RAF Museum, London

The Royal Air Force opened its award winning museum in 1968 to mark its 50th anniversary. 50 years later, the historic site has been brought up to date with an ambitious transformation project.

Located on the former Hendon Aerodrome site, an important requirement was to enhance the visitor experience, whilst maintaining high levels of security required by an RAF site.

Built in the 1970’s, Hangar 1 has been repurposed to provide a space for exhibitions and visitor centre. A second 1930’s hangar was transformed into the new 170-seat restaurant whilst maintaining much of the building’s original charm.
