Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford

One month before construction started on the University of Oxford’s new Ruskin School of Art, the university drafted in Ridge to analyse a projected overspend. Experienced Ridge experts conducted forensic reviews of the design and costs, resulting in £1M of savings.

Working closely with the client and project team, Ridge created cost-effective solutions while ensuring that the brief was still met fully, including achieving demanding sustainability targets. Ridge also ensured project completion by the tight deadline of the new academic term.

The 1,600m² two-storey building houses an editing suite, media laboratory, and spaces for teaching, workshops and exhibitions. Its standout feature is a large glazed interactive facade.
