Delivery of a new 220-cover restaurant within the Grandstand at Ascot Racecourse.
Ridge was asked by Ascot Racecourse to advise on the procurement strategy to deliver a new restaurant within the Grandstand. At this stage, the design was not fixed and consisted of a number of general arrangement options only.
Ridge provided initial cost consultancy and project management services to set budgets and agree how the project would be delivered and procured. Ridge was subsequently retained to deliver the entire project – to create a prestigious fine dining restaurant at the racecourse and to complete in time for the week of Royal Ascot.
Due to the limited design information available, and the very tight programme, a single-stage tender process was followed, based on a cost plan, in order to identify a contractor who was cost effective but also whom the project team could trust to deliver a high-quality product on schedule.
The project ultimately involved the demolition of 14 private boxes to create the new restaurant facility, which included a new kitchen, toilets, viewing balcony and external terrace areas. Ridge was also responsible for the procurement of all furniture for the restaurant.
