Advisory Services Team

We have one of the most respected and knowledgeable dispute resolution teams in the industry, with many instructions coming from previous clients. Our reputation has been earned across the engineering and construction sectors, including infrastructure, energy (including nuclear), rail, M&E, and utilities, as well as all types of building projects.

The team excels at developing relationships with both clients and their representatives (often establishing a route to settlement when relationships have broken down).

We offer independent and impartial advice to construction clients, design teams, contractors and suppliers, and also for solicitors, providing specialist technical support on adjudications and large claims.

Our services include: project audits; analysis and review/preparation of variation accounts; delay, disruption and acceleration claims; forensic delay analysis; building defects; adjudication advocacy/defence; and claims preparation and defence.

As a multi-disciplinary practice, we have the technical and commercial skills to analyse the most complex of problems, to establish the facts behind any dispute and to find creative solutions to even the most challenging of deadlocks. We take a commercial approach and develop the most expedient route to settlement. We are honest with clients – if there is no entitlement we say so – many of our clients appreciate our honest and concise advice; we do not provide verbose submissions and files, just clear, cogent, and correct advice.  The team is particularly skilled at forensic analysis and is often able to establish potential entitlement when others can’t.

We have developed an innovative approach in preparing and presenting large, problematic disruption claims.  This involves presenting large and complex issues simply and graphically to clients and their representatives.  This approach assists in explaining clients’ entitlement and promotes discussion / amicable commercial settlement.  It avoids more protracted, formal, and expensive resolutions.

The Ridge team is experienced in the use and application of a variety of contracts including JCT, NEC, ICC, FIDIC, and bespoke onerous contracts, and is regularly appointed to advise and assist in contract and dispute-related matters concerning contract administration, variation and final accounts, extensions of time, valuation, quantum analysis (prolongation, disruption, acceleration), programme review and management.

Many of our clients engage us at the early stages of a contract to offer advice on how best to avoid potential disputes and to train their staff.  We also provide ‘lessons learned’ and in-house training to clients.
